Bonita Beach, which means Beautiful in Spanish, is a small but beautiful and quiet beach of white sand and crystal blue water surrounded by rock formations and an exotic landscape of dry tropical forest, located in the province of Guanacaste.

Although Bonita Beach is within walking distance of crowded beaches such as Panama and El Coco, it’s rarely visited, making it the perfect destination if you are looking for a little peace and quiet, as Bonita Beach is ideal for cooling off in its calm waters or sunbathe and relax listening to the sound of the sea.

Getting to Bonita Beach in Guanacaste:

From San José

Drive north to Puntarenas and then follow the Pan-American highway until you reach Liberia, turn left and continue for 8 km (5 miles), take the exit to your right, next to the DO IT Center, towards Papagayo and Panama beach. Once in Panama beach, turn right, continue on the road to Hermosa beach for about 2.5 km (1.5 miles), then turn right and continue for 2 km (1 mile) more, until you reach the entrance of an abandoned hotel, where you need to report to a security officer to enter to Bonita Beach. This route requires a total of 5 to 6 hours from San José.

From Daniel Oduber International Airport (LIR)

Drive south to Santa Cruz for 8 km (5 miles) and turn right at the DO IT Center to Papagayo or Panama beach. Once in Panama beach, turn right, continue on the road to Hermosa beach for about 2.5 km (1.5 miles), then take another right and continue for 2 km (1 mile) more, until you reach the entrance of an abandoned hotel, where you need to report to a security officer to enter Bonita Beach.

By bus

Take a bus from the route San José – Hermosa beach / Panama beach, which takes about 6 hours (Traslapa, +506 2221-7202, +506 2680-0392); or from Libera you can take a bus from the route Liberia – Hermosa beach / Panama beach, which takes about 1 hour (Transportes La Pampa, +506 2665-5891). From Hermosa beach you can take a taxi to Bonita beach, which takes about 5 minutes. We recommend buying the ticket the day before to ensure your space.

By plane

You can also take a flight from the Juan Santamaria Airport to the Daniel Oduber airport at Liberia, either with Sansa or Aerobell Airlines every day. From here you can rent a car and drive or take a taxi to Bonita beach, which takes about 20 minutes.

Hermosa Beach is an extensive and beautiful beach around 2km long, with white sands and quiet blue waters, surrounded by lush tropical forest with ridges of volcanic rock and beautiful mountains, located in the province of Guanacaste.

Hermosa Beach, which means “beautiful” in Spanish, lives up to its name by its outstanding paradise beauty and lush surroundings, whose coast is renowned because it has an exceptional marine life, making it one of the best dive sites in the country. In addition, Hermosa Beach is one of the best maintained beaches in Costa Rica, winner of the “Blue Flag” award (Bandera Azul in Spanish) given to beaches that demonstrate high environmental standards and excellent safety facilities.

Hermosa Beach is an uncrowded beach, making it a very relaxing place, perfect for those seeking quality relaxation, peace and tranquility. However, Hermosa Beach is suitable to practice some water sports. In fact, Hermosa Beach is a favorite for swimmers, because of its calm waters. Visitors can also do some snorkeling, Scuba diving, kayaking, making a boat trip and/or sport fishing, horseback riding trips along the beach, ideal to see the beautiful surroundings.

While Hermosa Beach still maintains an overall laidback atmosphere of tranquility, it is the focus of ongoing development. Most of the construction is in charge of large luxury resorts at its northern end, while the South retains a more relaxing atmosphere. In addition, the community services are abundant with a variety of excellent restaurants, bars, travel agencies and shops.

An important point that most tourists need to be aware of is the fact that there are several beaches named “Hermosa” in Costa Rica. The Hermosa beach that is in Puntarenas, near Jaco, is the one famous for being one of the best surfing havens in the country.

Coco Beach Guanacaste Costa Rica (Playas del Coco in Spanish) is a beautiful gray sanded beach with calm waters and a distinctly blue-gray color instead of the usual blue-green which is characteristic of the Papagayo beaches, surrounded by hills and cliffs that extend over 3km to the Centinela point. Coco Beach is located in the province of Guanacaste, it has been ranked as one of the top destinations in Costa Rica and its one of the best known beaches in the country.

Coco Beach is very popular for both, locals and foreigners, as it has easy access and a well developed infrastructure with a wide variety of facilities for tourists such as restaurants, bars, discos, casinos, luxury hotels and lodges for all budgets, markets and shops. In addition, Coco Beach is well known as a gateway for surfers to reach Ollie’s Point and Witch’s Rock (Roca Bruja), where the waves are great.

Coco Beach Guanacaste Costa Rica is ideal to relax for a day in a boat or do a little fishing, as well as it is a main point for snorkeling or diving, as from Coco Beach you can head to the Pelonas or the Catalinas Islands which are excellent sites for observing a variety of tropical fish, turtles, sharks and octopuses in their natural environment. Pez Vela bay is a small beach, less than 1 km in length, with gray sands and calm blue waters, surrounded by lush vegetation, perfect for a rest and relaxation vacation, as the sound of gentle waves lapping up onto the extraordinary volcanic sand lulls guests into a dreamlike state.

Turn left at the Super Compro Supermarket, following the signs to Ocotal beach for about 3 km (2 miles) until you reach the entrance to Pez Vela Bay. Turn left into gate marked Ocotal Resort (you will see a sign for Bahia Pez Vela just before you make the left). Drive 1.2 Km through a residential area to Bahia Pez Vela (you will come across another gate to enter Pez Vela Bay). This route requires a total of 4 to 5 hours from San José.

Drive south to Santa Cruz , pass the DO IT Center and take the next exit to Sardinal on your right. Once in Sardinal, continue on the road to El Coco Beach for about 7 km (4 miles). Turn left at the Super Compro Supermarket, following the signs to Ocotal beach for about 3 km (2 miles) until you reach the entrance to Pez Vela Bay. Turn left into gate marked Ocotal Resort (you will see a sign for Bahia Pez Vela just before you make the left). Drive 1.2 Kilometers to Bahia Pez Vela (you will come across another gate to enter Pez Vela Bay).

Dantita Beach Costa Rica is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful beaches in the heart of the Guanacaste “Gold Coast” and is particularly unique in that it is an amazingly scenic bay with near-shore islands within a one-mile paddle. Dantita is a white sanded beach with crystal blue waters of lush beauty, of less than 1 km in length, located in the Las Catalinas community, just next to Danta beach. Dantita beach has steep slopes, but its waters are ideal for water sports such as diving or snorkeling, as well as bathing.

Dantita beach also has a lush beauty of natural richness along its coastline and rocky headlands at the ends with steep. In fact, to get to Dantita beach, visitors need to cross a small hill by walking from Danta beach, so it is highly recommended to wear some hiking shoes.

Getting to Dantita beach in Guanacaste:

From San José

Drive north to Puntarenas and then follow the highway to Liberia until you reach Belen. There, turn right and continue on the road until you get to Huacas. Once in Huacas, turn right towards Conchal and Flamingo for about 4.5 km (3 miles) until you reach an intersection. Follow the signs to Potrero Beach and continue for 8 km (5 miles) more, turn left and continue for about 50 m (165 ft) until you get to Danta and Dantita beaches parking lot. This route requires a total of 4 to 5 hours from San José.

From Daniel Oduber International Airport (LIR)

Drive south to Santa Cruz, pass the DO IT Center and take the next exit to Sardinal on your right. Continue on the road following the signs to RIU Hotel. When you reach the intersection that leads you to the hotel, do not turn and continue on the dirt road for about 8km (5 miles) until you reach the Danta beach intersection. Follow this road for about 2 km (1 mile) until you reach the Danta and Dantita beaches parking lot.

By bus

Take a bus from the route San José – Huacas – Brasilito- Flamingo – Potrero, making the stop at Potrero or Flamingo beaches, which takes about 5 hours (Tralapa, +506 2221-7202 / +506 2680-0392). From Flamingo or Potrero you should take a taxi to Dantita Beach or walk to it. From Flamingo the beach is located at about 8 km (5 miles) and from Potrero about 6 km (4 miles). We recommend buying the ticket a day earlier to be sure your seat is saved.

Or you can also take a bus from the route San Jose – Santa Cruz (Alfaro-Tracopa, +506 2222-2666) or Liberia – Santa Cruz (La Pampa, +506 2665-5891) and and then take a bus from the route Santa Cruz – Flamingo – Potrero (Empresa El Folclórico, +506 2680-3161), making the stop at Potrero or Flamingo beaches, which takes about 5 hours (Tralapa, +506 2221-7202 / +506 2680-0392). From Flamingo or Potrero you should take a taxi to Dantita Beach or walk to it. From Flamingo the beach is located at about 8 km (5 miles) and from Potrero about 6 km (4 miles).

By plane

You can also take a flight from the Juan Santamaria Airport to the Tamarindo airport, either with Sansa or Aerobell Airlines every day. From here you can rent a car and drive or take a taxi to Dantita beach, which takes about 35 minutes.
