Getting to Garza Beach Costa Rica in Guanacaste:

From San José drive north to Puntarenas and then follow the highway towards Liberia until you reach Limonal. Carrillo is a laidback beach town, very similar to Samara, but on a much smaller scale. This beach, which has stunning views and sunsets, is a very popular hot spot amongst foreigners and ticos, being one of the best beaches in Costa Rica.

Carrillo long beach in its natural state is bordered with coconut trees, forested hills and cliffs. Its cristal clear waters, the fine white sands, the constant sunshine and a sense of peace are the mayor features of this remote site.

At Carrillo beach Costa Rica you can find some water sports activities such as sport fishing, snorkeling and scuba diving in some stunning marine environments. Swimming conditions are also pleasant in the calm soothing bay, as well as walks along the rocky platforms at low tide where some marine life can be observed, especially in the little tidal pools.

Camaronal Beach Costa Rica: grayish sand beach and blue waters, declared as National Wildlife Refuge since 1994, as its beach is one of the main places of nesting Pacific Ridley Turtles, as well as Green and Leatherback turtles.

Camaronal beach has a view that includes hills of volcanic origin covered with lush vegetation, mainly at the mouth of Ora River, where mangrove vegetation predominates. Equally, the beach has a large number of crabs, nerites, snails, chitons and other marine creatures. Also, its moderate to strong waves, make it an ideal spot for surfers.

Getting to Camaronal Beach Costa Rica in Guanacaste:

From San José, take the Pan-American Highway north until you reach Limonal. Turn left at Tres Hermanas Restaurant towards La Amistad bridge until you get to Nicoya. Once you reach Nicoya, continue South to Samara, passing through Hojancha, continue until you reach Carrillo and then take take the right fork to Camaronal beach. This road is very steep and you need to cross Ora River, so only 4×4 cars have access. Throughout the rainy season, drivers need to take a longer alternative road, from Estrada Rávago, near Carrillo Beach. It is a very scenic route that exemplifies rural Costa Rica. This route requires a total of six hours drive from San Jose.

Islita Beach Costa Rica: is a grayish sandy beach and blue sparkling sea, surrounded by modest vegetation and divided by two streams. Moderate waves on a beach make it conducive for swimming and diving.

Islita beach, or Punta Islita is within a spawning area, so Leatherback and Hawksbill turtles nest here sometimes, especially during the month of October.

Near the beach there is a rocky island that completes the beautiful landscape of the area, and which takes its name from this beach.

The terrain is composed of deep river canyons, steep cliffs and hills of volcanic origin that are about 80 million years old. The pounding waves lapping the shoreline has formed abraded cliffs and platforms where at low tide there are tidal pools and exposed rocks that serve as temporary shelter for some brightly coloured fish, sea urchins, nerites, chitons, choras and caricacos, among others.

The city surrounding Islita beach is known as a “lively artistic community” with a beautiful local art museum and a lovely white church, which is a credit to the plaza. Also, Islita offers hotels and cabins to suit all tastes.

Corozalito Beach Costa Rica: separated by towering cliffs of volcanic rock that are about 80 million years old from Islita beach.

Corozalito hosts a significant population of Olive Ridley (Lepidochelys olivacea) sea turtles, as well as some Pacific Green (Chelonia mydas), Leatherback (Dermochelys coriacea) and Hawksbill (Eretmochelys imbricata) sea turtles.

The southern area of Corozalito beach has a mangrove estuary which flows into the sea during the rainy season, with fresh water and even during the dry season. This particular habitat is visited by migratory birds, such as the critically endangered Jabiru, and small vertebrates typical of the Guanacaste region like coyotes, coatis, raccoons, ant eaters and skunks, which are commonly spotted on the beach in search of turtle eggs.
