Panama Beach is a beautiful and quiet beach of gray sand and blue waters of about 2 km long and surrounded by lush vegetation, typical of dry tropical forest full of trees of Panama, Brazil, Sarno, Mesquite, ferns and various kinds of shrubs, which allows great shadow to the delight of its visitors. There are no buses to Matapalo beach, however you can take a bus from the route San José – Liberia, which takes about 5 hours (Pulmitan Liberia, +506 2222-1650 / +506 26663818) and then take another bus Liberia – Sardinal (La Pampa, +506 2665-5891 / +506 2686-7245). From Sardinal you should take a taxi or walk about 15 km (9 miles) to Matapalo beach. The other option is to take a taxi or drive from Liberia to Matapalo beach, the drive is about 30 km (18 miles).

By plane:

You can also take a flight from the Juan Santamaria Airport to the Daniel Oduber airport at Liberia, either with Sansa or Aerobell Airlines every day. From here you can rent a car and drive or take a taxi to Matapalo beach, which takes about 1 hour.

Zapotal Beach Costa Rica is a remote and beautiful light gray sand beach with calm waters, located in the Guanacaste province. Is a very quiet beach, ideal for a relaxing vacation, away from city noise, perfect to practice some water sports such as diving, snorkeling or fishing.

Getting to Zapotal beach in Guanacaste:

From San José

Drive north to Puntarenas and then follow the Panamerican highway until you reach Liberia. There, turn right and continue for 8 km (5 miles), after the DO IT Center take the next exit to Sardinal on your right. Continue on this road for about 20 km (12 miles) until you get to Zapotal beach parking lot. This route requires a total of 4 to 5 hours from San José.

From Daniel Oduber International Airport (LIR)

Drive south to Santa Cruz, after the DO IT Center take the next exit to Sardinal on your right. Continue on this road for about 20 km (12 miles) until you get to Zapotal beach parking lot.
