Coyotera Beach Costa Rica is a beautiful and wide beach with golden sands and blue waters, located in Salinas Bay, in Guanacaste province.
Coyotera is ideal for swimming, walking along its coast, sunbathe, and relax while enjoying the beautiful and peaceful landscape. However, for those seeking a little more action, across Coyotera beach is Bolaños Island, which can be accessed by boat or kayak. In addition, during the windiest months, Coyotera beach is ideal for the practice of windsurfing and kitesurfing.
Getting to Coyotera Beach in La Cruz, Guanacaste:
From San José
Drive north to Puntarenas and then follow the Pan-American highway towards Liberia. Once in Liberia, continue along the same highway for about 55 km (34 miles), turn left towards El Jobo, continue for 11 km (7 miles) turn right towards El Jobo, Coyotera and Cocos beaches and continue for 2 km (1.2 miles) until you get to Coyotera Beach. This route requires a total of 5 to 6 hours from San José. During the winter months a 4×4 vehicle is required to get to Coyotera Beach.
From Daniel Oduber International Airport (LIR)
Drive northeast towards Liberia. Once in Liberia, continue along the same highway for about 55 km (34 miles), turn left towards El Jobo, continue for 11 km (7 miles) turn right towards El Jobo, Coyotera and Cocos beaches and continue for 2 km (1.3 miles) until you get to Coyotera Beach. During the winter months a 4×4 vehicle is required to get to Coyotera Beach.
By bus
There are no buses that take you to Coyotera Beach, however you can take a bus from the route San José – La Cruz, which takes about 6 hours (Transportes Deldú, +506 2256-9072) and then take another bus from the route La Cruz – Puerto Soley – El Jobo, which takes about 30 minutes, departing 3 times a day. From here you can rent a car and drive or take a taxi to Coyotera beach, which takes about 20 minutes.
Also, you can take a bus from the route San José – Liberia, which takes about 5 hours (Pulmitan, +506 2222-1650), take another bus from the route Liberia – La Cruz (Empresa Arrieta, +506 2665-7530) which takes about 1 hour, and then take another bus from the route La Cruz – Puerto Soley – El Jobo, which takes about 30 minutes, departing 3 times a day. From here you can rent a car and drive or take a taxi to Coyotera beach, which takes about 20 minutes. In both cases, we recommend buying the ticket the day before to ensure your space.
By plane
You can also take a flight from the Juan Santamaria Airport to the Daniel Oduber airport at Liberia, either with Sansa or Aerobell Airlines every day. From here you can rent a car and drive or take a taxi to Coyotera beach, which takes about 1 hour.
