El Jobo Beach is a beautiful and quiet beach, of less than 1km long, with white sand and crystal blue waters, surrounded by lush vegetation typical of the tropical dry forest and mangrove, located in Salinas Bay, in the Guanacaste province.
El Jobo Beach has two rocky outcrops in northern and southern ends, giving the form of a semi bay, resulting in a gently sloping beach with gentle surf and a wealth of marine life, which benefits those bathers and those who wants to practice a bit of diving, snorkeling or fishing.
Presents great natural wealth in both its coast as in the mangrove and estuary, with abundant flora and fauna, which makes it an ideal beach to practice ecotourism enjoying the peace and tranquility.
Getting to El Jobo Beach in Guanacaste
From San José
Drive north to Puntarenas and then follow the Pan-American highway towards Liberia. Once in Liberia, continue along the same highway for about 55 km (34 miles), turn left towards El Jobo, continue for 11 km (7 miles) turn right towards El Jobo, Coyotera and Cocos beaches and continue for 5 km (3 miles) until you get to El Jobo Beach. This route requires a total of 5 to 6 hours from San José. During the winter months a 4×4 vehicle is required to get to El Jobo Beach.
From Daniel Oduber International Airport (LIR)
Drive northeast towards Liberia. Once in Liberia, continue along the same highway for about 55 km (34 miles), turn left towards El Jobo, continue for 11 km (7 miles) turn right towards El Jobo, Coyotera and Cocos beaches and continue for 5 km (3 miles) until you get to El Jobo Beach. During the winter months a 4×4 vehicle is required to get to El Jobo Beach.
By bus
There are no buses to El Jobo Beach, however you can take a bus from the route San José – La Cruz, which takes about 6 hours (Transportes Deldú, +506 2256-9072) and then take another bus from the route La Cruz – Puerto Soley – El Jobo, which takes about 30 minutes, departing 3 times a day. From here you can rent a car and drive or take a taxi to El Jobo beach, which takes about 30 minutes.
Also, you can take a bus from the route San José – Liberia, which takes about 5 hours (Pulmitan, +506 2222-1650), take another bus from the route Liberia – La Cruz (Empresa Arrieta, +506 2665-7530) which takes about 1 hour, and then take another bus from the route La Cruz – Puerto Soley – El Jobo, which takes about 30 minutes, departing 3 times a day. From here you can rent a car and drive or take a taxi to El Jobo beach, which takes about 30 minutes. In both cases, we recommend buying the ticket the day before to save your space.
By plane
You can also take a flight from the Juan Santamaria Airport to the Daniel Oduber airport at Liberia, either with Sansa or Aerobell Airlines every day. From here you can rent a car and drive or take a taxi to El Jobo beach, which takes about 1 hour.
