Probably one of the oldest steakhouses in San Jose, Barbecue Los Anonos Restaurant, located in San Rafael of Escazu, encompasses within a familiar atmosphere, the highest Costa Rican cooking tradition, and also has more than five decades with a first class service in a welcoming space, combining rustic and modern facilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It all started with an idea of Don Manuel Ramos and his wife Do\u00f1a Alicia, when the late fifties, around San Jose was a huge coffee full of fruit trees and the family prepared the necessary and went in search of a suitable place to enjoy a picnic. Escazu was the site preferred by Espinoza Ramos family, which moved all weekend, barbecue included, to enjoy the culinary skills of the mother, in the rural atmosphere of the time. So the idea of \u200b\u200bopening a restaurant outside the city grew and became a reality almost as entertainment. In 1960, Don Manuel and Do\u00f1a Alicia Espinoza Ramos with his daughters Lydia and Juanita, opened Barbecue Los Anonos, on a ranch with eight tables and totally rustic atmosphere. The success was overwhelming, “from the first day it was well received,” recounts Mrs. Juanita Ramos. The Ramos were clear from the beginning, the enormous responsibility gained with a clientele over 51 years has remained faithful to them and forced them to grow and care for the quality service and meals, which marked them from the beginning.<\/p>\n

A simple and nice decor, set up in a very traditional environment with original long wooden tables with benches, aged tile roof and the out door patio like serving area, made Los Anonos keeping the traditional Costa Rican barbecue style that has given them a good name for decades and gives this place a warm and cozy ambiance. Los Anonos Restaurant and Barbecue during the five decades of service, specializes in providing good, generous and different cuts of grilled and barbecued meats, as well as a variety of special dishes for every taste, as are their seafood and tongue in sauce, without put aside their exquisite accompaniments as are their fried beans and coleslaw cabbage salad. Barbecue Los Anonos Restaurant also has a variety of desserts, the finishing touch for a great meal, amongst highlights its delicious coconut flan, chocolate mousse and strawberry cheesecake, plus their new options in light desserts.<\/p>\n

Nothing better to accompany a good steak that good wine. That is why Los Anonos Restaurant and Barbecue offers a unique and varied menu of wines, liqueurs, cocktails and their original smoothies made out of tropical fruits. The restaurant also has reservation service, parking lot and security.<\/p>\n

At Los Anonos Restaurant and Barbecue their meat, their service and atmosphere melt to become a unique dining experience in Costa Rica.<\/p>\n

\nFridays and Saturdays from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m., and from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m.
\nSundays from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
